Group Email for YAM.

A discussion group email for the initial journey of YAM has been created on Yahoo group! The Youth Alliance for Melanesia email group provides the place for discussion by everyone interested in the journey of YAM across the Ocean. However since it is a Yahoo group discussion this requries a Yahoo sign up, a very simple procedure! Group email encourages suggestions and further consultation on the stages of YAM. During the Pacific Youth Festival in Tahiti island on Thursday afternoon 13th of July 2006 a concept proposal for the Youth Alliance for Melanesia was presented to officials and youth delegation from Melanesian nations attending the historical one week event.

The concept of creating an alliance for Melanesian youths as a regional approach was conceived by a delegate representative from Solomon Islands who have bbeen lobbying for the idea as was one of his purpose for attending the festival.



The idea was received with positive reactions along with strong calls especially from national officials and youth representatives to begin consultation and planning so that it can take form. This will require hardwork and cooperation from all domestic, national and regional Melanesian avenue as well as from cousin island groups, national governments and Pacific regional organisations.
